Product review: Ready2Roll pregnancy pillow
Ready2Roll, the name refers to the concept of a pregnancy pillow which is designed to allow you to roll over in bed without having to manoeuvre the pillow. You move – the pillow stays where it is. It is actually made up of two cushions which are joined together by a piece of fabric (which can extend to grow with your tummy). You lie on the fabric with a cushion either side – so your bump is supported whatever side you choose to lie on. The Ready2Roll pillow is small. Each cushion is only 23cm x 33cm so it doesn’t look much but I was pleasantly surprised. I started using it towards the end of my pregnancy. I’d be getting terrible pregnancy insomnia – not helped by a husband with a chronic snoring problem so I was looking for something to help.
Night one.
I settled on my right-side with one pillow just under my bump and the other in the small of my back. When I turned, I did have to adjust the pillow so it wasn’t a seamless roll. But, it was definitely more of a fiddle than a big man-handle of an action like with the full-length body pillow that I used in my first pregnancy.
Nights two, three, four…
I am definitely getting used to the pillow. Although, I can’t claim the pillow has improved my sleep dramatically (I still had to get up to go to the toilet about ten times and it didn’t cure the insomnia nor snoring) but my bump felt supported and I felt comfortable.
A few months in…
The bump is at it’s biggest and the pillow although small is still supporting it. I still need to do minor adjustments when I turn over. I wouldn’t say I just roll and I’m done and I don’t roll undisturbed in my sleep but then show me a person who doesn’t toss and turn alittle, pregnant or not!
I like to sleep on my side but I do change from side to side so for me this pillow worked. If you are normally a back or front sleeper, then I guess sleeping will be difficult when pregnant whatever form of support you use but my advice is give it a go – for $79.95 it’s pretty competitive in the market. It also acts as a nice head support when breast-feeding and I suppose I shouldn’t say this – healthcare professionals do not read but I now place my baby in the middle so he can’t roll. A contradiction of the name but it has given the pillow has a longer life cycle. It small size and unoffensive pattern also means it looks nice on the bed.
The Ready2Roll Pregnancy Body Pillow retails for $79.95. It is available to buy from www.rrpregnancypillow.com.au
